First, make sure your computer has an audio input jack, not just a headphone jack. The headphone jack is an audio output and won’t bring audio into your computer! If you’re sure you do have an audio input jack, determine if that input is line or mic level. The GarageBand Cable matches impedance, but it’s not going to boost a mic-level signal. You may need an additional preamp (such as the iMic) or a powered mixer to achieve enough volume.
Although the GarageBand XLR Cable matches the iTalk’s line-level input, the volume problem may still exist if the mic needs extra power to be heard. If it’s a condenser mic, you will probably need some type of preamp as well as the Cable.
The headphone opening on the Apple Bumper is only large enough to accommodate the headphones that were included with the iPhone 4. Though it appears that our TuneBuds and TuneBuds Mobile also fit in this opening just fine, the Bumper case will have to be removed before using most other headphones and auxiliary cables.
