Where is the Station Finder software?
We have a new web-based Station Finder called SmartScan. You can check it out here.
SmartScan StationFinder tells you the best frequencies to broadcast through when using any of our iTrip family of iPod transmitter devices. No matter how you’re accessing StaionFinder, the application automatically formats the page for your device, including support for Apple’s new iPhone as well as desktop and mobile phone browsers. No matter where you are in the US, you can identify the clearest frequencies to use.
Why does it shut off automatically?
The iTrip Auto Universal Plus was designed to shut itself off after a minute or so if no audio is present. Even if the audio is extremely quiet, the iTrip may still shut itself off. We recommend listening to your audio at 85% or higher to keep this from happening. This way, the automatic shut-off will only happen when you want it to, like when you leave the iTrip plugged into your car’s outlet while you’re away.
What music players are compatible with the iTrip Auto Universal Plus?
First, the digital audio player must have a standard 3.5 mm headphone jack. Any iPod, Zune, Sansa, and most other mp3 players will have this headphone jack.
Second, your player must use a USB cable to connect to your computer or charger. You will use this cable to connect the player to the female USB port of the iTrip Auto Universal Plus. Although you do not HAVE to have this connection in order to transmit the audio to your FM radio, you must connect a USB cable if you want to charge your player.
Finally, to use this device with the original iPhone, you’d need a Griffin headphone adapter to fit the plug into the iPhone’s recessed headphone jack. This does not apply to the iPhone 3G.
Why does my iTrip change stations every time I use it?
If your iTrip was purchased in Europe, this is normal. In order to be in compliance with a European regulation designed to prevent pirate radio transmissions, iTrips sold in certain areas outside of North America will change to a random station after each use.
Does this work with the 3rd generation iPod shuffle?
It will work, but we cannot claim compatibility because it’s not as easy to set up as we’d like. You will need to:
- Set the shuffle’s playback volume via the Apple-supplied headphones (we recommend around 85%)
- Unplug the headphones and plug in the iTrip’s audio cable
- Toggle the shuffle’s power switch to off, then back to on again to initiate audio playback
- Now that you have music playing on the shuffle, you can tune and use the iTrip as you would with other iPods and audio devices.
The cable does not fit completely into the headphones port of my original iPhone.
We have an adapter that will fix that problem. If you need this adapter go to our contact page and send us your address and phone number so we can send one out to you.
I cannot charge and play my Zune with the iTrip Auto Universal Plus at the same time.
This may be related to the firmware version on your Zune and, updating to the latest firmware version may fix the problem. For more information on how to update your Zune click here.
Will this device charge the iPad?
Will this product work with the iPhone 4S?
Our testing shows that it works just fine, but additional certification is required before we can officially claim compatibility. Stay tuned to our webstore for the latest compatibility information.
